Before quitting the firm in 1996 to become a monk, he briefly worked as an electrical engineer at Hewlett Packard. After some time, he gave up his job and joined the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), where he was given the name "Gaur Gopal Das" and was ordained as a monk. He has been there for twenty-two years, studying both modern psychology and ancient philosophy in order to become a life coach.
