Jiya Shankar made her acting debut in 2013's Entha Undanga Unnave, a Telugu movie in which she co-starred with Ajay Manthena. She starred with Arun Chidambaram in the Tamil movie Kanavu Variam later that year. In 2015, Shankar made her television debut in Bindass' Love By Chance, playing Alisha Rai opposite Karan Singhmar. By assuming the title character of Shreya Dixit Rathore in the television series Queens Hain Hum, Shankar made her debut on television in 2016.
