After that he directed the Malayalam film Oru Thathavika Avaranam in 2021, it was Akhil's first film in which he directed himself and it felt very good. ''The shoot was planned for 40 days but there was pressure to complete the film in 30 or 25 days, then parts of the film script were shortened and finally finished in 30 days. The producers came with 10 people to watch the film as the editing of the film was completed, when the first cut was done only to rush the editing. After watching the video clip, which isn't even dubbed, several comments were left. When I had to protest, I became arrogant and ungrateful. Also, the producer orders that I should not be kept on the editing table''.
